equity-centered sustainability lab.
Overview
The moment we are in requires our close attention and critical work to center equity and racial justice, consider unintentional harm of top-down approaches, and get out of set grooves of the status quo. In this innovation lab, we bring equity into sustainability. In a two day investment, we teach you how to develop your self-awareness as an equity-centered designer, empathize with others by keeping an open mind, carry out empathy interviews, and immerse yourself in the lives of others. We recognize that those close to the problem are those closest to the solution so we work with you to identify and include underrepresented voices to co-design and strategize alongside us.
This reflective, collaborative, empathetic, and feedback-based training will help you develop skills to create safe and equitable programs. At the end of this workshop, you will receive a practice guide of equity-centered design tips and tricks, a follow-up coaching session with one of our facilitators, and a video of each team member’s prototype.
