data analyst

01. introduction

Lena is an artist, musician, and computer scientist with a passion for building a more sustainable world. Recognizing coding, algorithms, and machine learning as modern day “powertools”, she has pursued this computational knowledge in order to contribute to the search for and creation of climate solutions. From her work mapping shoreline erosion using machine learning, to the app she created to analyze weather patterns and predict the beauty of sunrises, to her current data analytics work with Sustain Tomorrow, she is always on the hunt for creative ways to apply her computational skill set to earth science based projects.

02. education

  • Colorado College, B.A. in Computer Science

03. what sustains lena

Lena lives for her creative pursuits, an ever-growing list that includes singing, painting, climbing, surfing, playing with clay, and learning new musical instruments. Her favorite time of day is sunrise; on a good day, you can find her on a hilltop at dawn, drinking tea with a huge smile on her face.

04. favorite tree

There is a particularly climbable grove of bay laurel (Umbellularia californica) trees in the Oakland hills which Lena frequents. She’s nicknamed the grove after Ghibli animation studios, claiming that it looks straight out of her favorite movie.
