Lila Roginski (she/her)
business development manager

01. introduction

Lila has a knack for sustainability, business development, education, and creativity. Her work has ranged from campaign management in the zero waste domain to inspiring minds as an environmental educator and weaving narratives as a designer. Rooted in empathy and trust, Lila is driven to foster genuine connections and create a friendly rapport with those she encounters.

02. experience

In her work before Sustain Tomorrow, Lila led the No Time to Waste Campaign at UC Santa Cruz, focusing on implementing Zero Waste goals at the university. Throughout the campaign, her curiosity and passion for California’s waste management issues led her to uncover darker truths about waste management in a global context. Armed with local knowledge and a globalized view of waste management, she saw a real need for rapid innovation and policy change in this field. This led her to the world of fungi— a rapidly growing space of sustainability possibilities—where she participated in an innovative research project that successfully isolated a strain of native Santa Cruz fungi with the capability of degrading Polymer plastic. At Sustain Tomorrow, Lila brings her creativity, empathetic business development mindset, and leadership to her work.

03. education

  • University of California Santa Cruz, B.A. in Environmental Studies

04. what sustains lila

One of Lila’s favorite things to do is rock climb. She began climbing with her dad at 8 years old, bouldering at Castle Rock in the Santa Cruz Mountains near her hometown. Since then she’s climbed many peaks with her dad, her favorite being the Grand Teton in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Nowadays, setting high-grade goals for herself both inside the climbing gym and outside on an exposed wall gives her sustenance in her personal life. Other things she likes to do are play sand volleyball, care for her houseplants, and snowboard.

05. favorite tree

Lila loves to visit Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California in the springtime and observe the blooming flowers and cacti, which is why her favorite tree is a Joshua Tree. The Joshua Trees seem both silly and resilient, both qualities she finds herself relating to.
